The Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek is a hidden gem — a short but rewarding high-altitude journey through the alpine meadows south of Thimphu, scattered with dozens of pristine glacial lakes. On clear days the high camps deliver a sweeping Himalayan panorama that can include Jomolhari, Jichu Drake, Kanchenjunga, and Gangkar Puensum. Its proximity to Thimphu makes it far more accessible than Bhutan’s longer treks, while still offering genuine wilderness, wildflower-carpeted meadows, and the chance to fish or picnic beside remote mountain lakes. Ideal for fit travelers who want a true high-mountain experience without a long time commitment.
